Make sure it's a '53 PG, a '54 or 55 1st. A 261 in these years would be great, but tough to find. Consider the high cost of rebuilding, start with the block you really want. The wrong height fan in p

Don't know what else you CAN do, but I DON'T think you can hide the side cover being shorter (all 216's had a full side cover). You'd have to actually extend the side cover up over the side of the he

Wasnt sure if a 216 Harmonic Balancer would fit a 235 (so you have the hand crank ability) or not. I have a 216 with a short side cover. They made a few for cars that didnt have the long one. I dont

I think that 216 with a short a side cover is really a dipper 235, used in big trucks and automagic cars. Also called a "high torque" something. Grant 50 Chevy 3100 52 GMC 150 oletrucks is devoted to

That's a good point (of the hand crank capability), but that also reminds me that the 216's also had the wider v-belt (that would also require the harmonic balancer change). Regards, Doug Pewterbaugh

My concern with adding a 216 Harmonic Balancer to a 235 is the "Balancer" part. The 235's HB is larger and has more centrifugal weight around the outer edge than a 216's. Is there any reason to be co

Deve et al, The term "Harmonic Balancer" is something of a misnomer, as it doesn't really "balance" anything. It is referred to in the GMC manuals as a "crankshaft damper" which reflects it's true pu
