I need some help identifying the 6-cylinder engine in my new '65 stepside. The PO admits it was changed and did not know the vintage chevy it was. The block has theses numbers: Cast date = A164 Cast

According to the Inliners site 328575 engines were built from 1968-1984 and are 6 cyl. 250 CI. And the A164 could be Jan 16th 1974 or Jan 16 1984 according to the Chevytrucks.org site. Maybe somebod

My thought would be that if it is original, the HEI would be in the 83 and newer engine and a points distributor would be in the older version. 250 CID sounds right from where the distributor is plac
