The letter D identifies the engine size, hp rating, compression, carb and transmission. I didn't find a listing for the letter "D" until 1958 and then again in 1959. The "D" indicates it's: Built in

Joe where did you get the codes? The Chevrolet Pickup Red Book doesn't seem to cover my 55 Cameo with 4Sp Hydramatic. My engine no are 0409998155B and trans no is CT 55-2991 (8615319.9N20) Ernie 55 C
