I am trying to find out if I have a GMC 228 or 248. The serial number on the block is 6107326 GMC 6. It is in a 53 half ton and the block appears to be bigger that a 216 that I have. Jerry Charles 53

That sounds more like a casting number than a engine number. Engine number should be stamped on a pad just behind the distributor. The first 3 digits should be the displacement. Unless it's a Canadi
