- How can a person tell if a GMC VIN is 1948 or older. I know that the prefix is F101 for 1/2 ton and F102 for 3/4 ton and these prefixes go from 1947 to 1953. Does the serial # tell the year of mfg.?

- Thanks. Woops, I did leave out the 'C'. How does a person decipher the sequence after the FC101 or FC102 to tell the year? Still lost in GMC land Durwood ____________________________________________
