id say pull it all out and R&R it. its pretty easy really. and, on my '57, my original switch wouldnt turn on the cab light, and i got a new one, exactaly the same (i double checked) and it wont tur

The reostat is burned out. The little coil winding has finally burned out and not allowing you to dim the dash lights. Just replace the headlight switch and your done. Joe Garcia Yuba City, CA 1950

Joe and Charles: I seem to remember that there is a trick to removing the headlight switch. Don't you have to reach under the dash and use a screwdriver to press a little button to get the knob/shaft

The trick if you will is to pull the headlight switch knob all the way out and then if you reach behind the dash on the headlight switch "where all the wires are" their will be a small 1/8" button th
