All this talk about how cold it is half way across the country made me think of my heater situation. My '54 has no heater at all. My '55 1st has a standard heater that appears to have been installed

I think one of the factors of interchangeability of the deluxe heater is the location of the fresh air vent. My '54 Chev heater says GMC on it so they must have been basically intrchangable bodywise

Any idea if yours came from a '54/55, or perhaps an earlier truck? Steve I think one of the factors of interchangeability of the deluxe heater is the location of the fresh air vent. My '54 Chev heate

I am sure it came in the truck, maybe dealer installed. A lot of Radios and Heaters were installed by dealers back then. As an Industrial Arts student we used to work at dealerships installing these

I've seen the logo stickers available, so it must not be too hard to change Is yours the recirculatory type? I'm not sure exactly what that means, but someone else told me the '54-5 is recirculatory

I don't think it is the recirc, it is connected to outside air and I don't see any way to change it. The only controls it has water flow and defrost. Lee -- Original Message -- From: "Steve Hanberg"

I have an air-flow heater in my AD truck and it has a 3-speed (I think) switch to control the fan. I've converted to 12 volt and am going to put in a voltage reducer to the heater. My question is, sh

I'm going to stick my neck out here, so if anyone knows that my logic is faulty-please correct. AFA I know AMPS are what wires are sensitive to (AFA gauge size). This is one of the original reasons w

If this is similar to the one I got from NAPA, it won't matter :) I had my reducer (just a big coil mounted to a ceramic block) mounted before the switch - switch burned out. Mounted it AFTER the re

I agree with Doug. The failure mechanisms of a switch are things like arcing across the terminals and ruining the contacts due to high current. Arcing is not likely (the voltage to get even a small a

The thing to watch out for is doubling the voltage will quadruple the power! The volts and amps will both double. This will quickly eat motors and wiring. The difference in the light wiring is that t

ooops - should have made something a little clearer: I tried this with the original 6v motor, a replacement 12v motor from a listmember, and a 12v motor from a vw. Coupla different switches, too; but
