- Check your float level. An improperly adjusted float will do just what you described. Most of the older carbs will have a specific float measurement that can be quite critical to how the vehicle runs

- I forgot to mention that the carb is new as of 1 week ago. oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM trucks built between 1941 and 1959

- If sheer numbers mean anything, add my vote to float level. That was what was behind my similar problems, but in my case, it was set too high as I recall, and led to a flooding situation when I brake
