I have a 59 3/4 ton GMC with a 6-cyl 270 and it never had a fan shroud on it. I asked the original owner. My buddy has a 57 GMC 1/2 ton w/ V-8 347 and his has one. I have another friend with a 58 GM

I have been looking at a 47 - 54 chevy factory assembly manual. Very detailed of course... As I interpret it, Chevy models 5000 - 6000 series had a shroud. There is no indication of a shroud on model

Looks like your radiator only has half the capacity of what it should. Stay with 15 pound cap. 4 pound cap will let it boil over. In 1952 they went from 0 to 4 pound cap. A shroud will help a lot. I
