- A socket can be used, just use a larger 12 point as opposed to a 6 point socket. Normally a 6 pointer grabs better, but this is the best use of a 12 point socket I can think of. All The Best! George

- Okay, now that you've found the correct socket for the 1/2" square nut under those running boards, you'll most likely find that the 1/4" carriage bolt just turns and you can't get at the top side of
