I agree with Old Chevy Truck that a Chevy Van column is the only way to go if you're not considering an aftermarket column. I did the same front suspension swap a few years ago and wound up cutting

I used the original column in my 49 burb. I cut the column off the box right at the top of the box. You have the outer tube and the inner shaft. Once you cutoff the box, the steering wheel will pop

Robert I have the same setup on my 41 but not the vertical piece you have on the "Y" part that bolts on the spindle, did you add this?

Yes I added that piece for Strength it bolts to the anchor pin bolt at the top of the backing plate I used a self locking nut that is not shown in picture. There is some flex in the steering arm that
