Mine has the original turnsignals directly beneath the headlights. Do you prefer keeping the 'top of the fender' design? If so, I would put the about 1/4 - 1/3 of the way back on the front fenders.

You can get new parking light socket arrangements which include an extra socket for the turn signal and remove and fill in the holes where the fender-top units were. We did this on a 48 and a 49 mode

I got my wiper motor from Chevy Duty, and am very happy with it. Wasn't that easy to install with the choke and throttle cables, but can be done. I also find that the short wiper blades for a VW bug
