You could probably use an Epoxy primer, buy a gallon or a 1/2 gallon, etc (bring in your own contaner to save some bucks) and just brush it on...no need to spray it. apply any when -- Mike -- passnb

I've been through this same dilemma. I used CHEAP spray can paint to protect the metal after working on a section. I applied a discount brand of flat black from Home Depot for .99 a can. It held up
