- the hole is on the opposite side from the starter left side of engine front of fly wheel its where the starter would be if there was a starter on that side Robert Baird Ft. Worth Texas 1954 Chevrolet

- If that is a round hole with no pointer it is not for timing. oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM trucks built between 1941 and 1959
