Can anyone who has gone up a size in SU carbs on an MGB (in my case 1968) let me know the result. Good? Bad? Not worth the expense and effort? Why did you do it? Yes, my fuel economy is just too good

OK, so far I have heard nothing BAD about making this 'improvement' to HS6 (and thanks to all who have responded off-list), but then again I haven't heard from Barney, Ed, Larry.... As I have said to

I run twin HIF44 1.75" carbs on my 1330cc tuned up mini. It goes very well. Everyone said it wouldn't work but it is fine, and has even been known to give 30mpg. It is something I'd definitely consi

(and thanks to all who have responded off-list), but then again I haven't heard from Barney, Ed, Larry.... What the hell would I know about HS6's? My 1600 hums happily past 7000 rpm running on H4's.

Barney, if it is really a street cam, you aren't doing anything at 7000 but making noise and reducing bottom end life! Even the 1600 benefits from the 1 3/4" conversion, though, assuming enough head

Interesting point, Bill. I saw an MGC at a show last fall with 3 side-draft Weber-like carbs and I wondered if that wasn't overkill for the street (didn't look like a racer to me). Never saw it enter

I also have seen a triple Weber MGC on a chromed 'show' car. My MGC has triple 1 3/4" SUs, which IMO is adequate for street use as well as most competition. It has raised the top end to around 130 mp

What needles are you using in your HS6's? My setup is losing power at about 4-4500 rpm on a worn engine, and I wonder if the needles could be the problem. Foot to the floor, it really sputters and d

I stand by what I said. Your power is dropping above 6000 rpm. If you don't already have a CR gear box, spend the bucks - it will let you keep it near the torque peak without thrashing the poor thing
