Sounds like a daft question but if someone knows what size spanner (wrench) I need for the 100 crankshaft nut I would be most grateful. It's not easy to get at in a single lockup garage with no hoist

They can be hard to remove, a large box end wrench that you can hit with a hammer at the far end seems to work well if a regular ratchet, breaker bar, breaker bar with 2' pipe extension, etc. don't w

Many thanks to the four people who responded. The answer, for other listers, is 1" Whitworth (same as 1 and 1/8" BS). The across flats is somewhere between 42mm and 43mm, 1.67". Mike
