I'm in the middle of the tear-down phase on my 1275 that I recently pulled out of my Sprite, and I have a couple of questions: There were no lock washers or lock tabs of any kind on the main bearing

I say stick with the studs.Then you have two chances next time you need to remove them. The bolts will corrode just the same and then the only thing you're left with is a broken bolt. In either case

I'm in the middle of a Perkins 3 cyl. diesel rebuild and can't find the locktabs....went to the local hot-rod-hot-shot engine rebuilder in the area....he said forget the locktabs.....forget the lockt

1275s only used lock tabs on the oil pump, flywheel, cam nut, and harnomic balancer. But do use some loctite on the main bolts. As for the bolts vs studs on the t/stat, it's a good move. I opt for st

Engineering studies tell us that the soft material of the lock tabs vs. hard metal to hard metal, is self defeating, especially if you dont use the tabs. John Deere eliminated lock tabs and lock wash

No lock washers on the last small block Chevy I rebuilt if I recall Just torqued them down in order with an overseas torque wrench. Kirk
