What does the piece that goes between the oil filter adapter and the block look like on a 1275? I don't have any books that cover the later cars (yet). I have a round piece that's maybe 2 or 3 inches

If you mean the pressure bypass pipe, it's a bent piece of about 3/8" pipe, vaguely S shaped, with a perpendicular fitting at the back end (a banjo fitting) with a large hollow bolt that attaches it

There were two types of spin on adapters. Either one could bolt up directly to the block. The only caution is that you have adequate room to mount the filter on the adapter. Filters are available in
