- Sounds like badly leaking throttle shafts or a vacumn leak at the carb to intake manifold or manifold to cylinder head or a combination of all of the above. Could be a lot of things really. HTH N //

- Since it is fair to assume that the pistons and valves are doing their expected tasks, then we must further assume that it would take one heck-a-va vacuum leak at the manifold/shafts/or anti-backfir
