I am currently working on a 1275 cylinder head and noticed that only the intake valves have oil seals. The catalogs show this to be correct. My question is, should I replace the seals as they were or

WAG: There is no vacuum during the exhaust stroke so it won't draw oil down the stem anyway... It does, however, on the intake stroke. Kent 1960 Bugeye 1978 Midget "Drippy" (How's that for a name?) 1

Dan I have installed the seals on all (8) valves. Don't know if it did any good, but it didn't do any bad. But only the intakes came with seals. Since I have a few head sets, I used the seals for the

the intake valves have oil seals. Dan, The idea of the seals is to avoid oil being sucked into the combustion chamber when the vlaves open. If you think about it, there is vacuum in the combustion c

ok, here's the drill! exhaust valves run hot it is their nature. having gobs of oil running down the stems is not a bad thing! having it create blue smoke burning in the exhaust system has no bearing

umm me thinks that evryone is missing one thing on the exhaust theory? if proper system fabrication has been achieved there is some "vaccume" in the exhust port due to "scavenging". and this will dra

Hi Chuck, Seems you could well be right with this. What I do know, as of a proven fact, is that on my 1275 it was loosing oil down the exhaust valve guide at quite a rate. I added seals to the stems
