You can take the resistor off the stock coil. It is on there to protect the points which you don't have any more. You may want a hotter coil anyway but the stock coil will work. I've used an accel be

Do you have a part number? There are several MSD Blaster 2 coils with different primary resistance. I've got the 8208 documented as the correct coil, but I haven't been able to validate that number.

According to the Mallory site the 8200 chrome housing and the 8203 come with the balast resistor. The 8202 in red are for the engines running the MSD box. I am running the 8203 with the MSD box. Mik
