Saw this roadster on Ebay, and I'm not familiar with 1500s. If this is a 1963, shouldn't it have a single carb? and doesn't the motor look like an R-16? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAP

I generally would expect a single carb on a '63 but considering the way ID plates were stamped vs year sold ect it is hard to say for sure. The motor picture does look like it may well be a 1500. Th

The engine is either a 1600 or the guy used an early 1600 valve cover on the 1500 and yes it should have 1 carb. Moreover the rear emblem is wrong. Additionally the shackles are reversed and although

It could be a 1500 engine. The oil filler cap is where the vent is on the 1500 valve cover. I have never seen a 1500 engine configured with a vent hose that way. The car is not a 63. It may have been

That's an early 1600 valve cover or a late 1500. I have one in my basement. The rear emblems are from a 68 - 70 Roadster, not an early one, as the early ones say "Datsun 1600" That guy could be in a

Tough to tell from this angle. The carbs appear to be 1500 carbs. The valve cover is correct for a 1500. 1600 brake master cylinder. It has the iron head, so it is likely the real deal or an early 16

That is a 1500 valve cover. The single carb models had the chrome valve cover while the dual carbs had the alloy. The 1500 alloy cover is different from the early 1600 in that the 1600 had a spot cas

The car is not perfect. The vent hose configuration on that car was used on some late 3 seat 1500s and most if not all 2 seat 1500s. The car is likely a 64 model as surmised. I think that the rear em

That is an early 1600 valve cover with venting to the breather. Does not look like a 1600 head though, unless he modified the thermostat housing...nice car, but not an "original restoration", and how

In Datsun brochures the mirror(s) is on the fender of early cars. I didn't realize that until the topic was brought up several months ago and I looked at my brochures and test reports. Mike was 1500'
