Panic not ( at least till you check the marking on the block itself). Both 1500s and 1600s used the head with "15" on it. You can tell if yours is the correct block by looking below the carburetter h

The 1489cc (MGA 1500) and 1588cc (MGA 1600) engines utilize the same head with the 15 raised marking (during the 1500 production run there were two modifications to improve porting so that by the end

Find a copy of "The Original MGA". It shows the engines. I thought either "1500", "1600", or "1622" was cast on the engines for MGA 1500, MGA 1600, and MGA Mark II, respectively. Don Mathis,Ph.D. don
