Datsun pickups used the "L" series engine, for example the L-16 in my old 1970 PL-521. It is an OHC engine, as opposed to the pushrod Roadster unit -basically a 4-cyl version of the straight-6 Z moto

The only other (stock) car that got the R-series engine was the 411. They seem to be a lot harder to find than the roadsters now, altho I have no idea how many were imported. The little 1200's from

Probably either the A-series (Datsun A, not BMC A series) or the BMC licensed copy you refered to. The L-13 was never in US cars, but I have heard of some Canadian L-13 equiped cars, so it's within
