It fits over a metal stub tube, the "inlet". It is held on by a large circular clip (like a huge hose clamp). It's easiest to see this by jacking up the car and removing the right front tire. Good l

It took me 3 flashers to get one that wouldn't do what yours is doing, you would get one or two flashes and then nothing, but the outside lights would be ok. Now my dash indicator light flashes like

You can get original flasher units made by Lucas (in England) from Holden in the UK. They offer a repro screw type connector or an original Lucas (early 70s vintage) Lucar connector type fitting unit

Oh, if only the price was so ... . I just checked it and the Lucas unit (with Lucar connectors) is the more expensive (10.32 pounds = ~$17US) of the two. And the Lucar connectors in the photo already
