I have never seen it done before but if you could get a rear mount from Rivergate, you should be able to weld up something for the front mounts. Go for it I know the transmissions are almost bullet p

There is a Merkur XR4TI in a junk yard on Texas rd in the Morganville area of NJ. In fact, he has 3 of them, 2 automatics, 1) 5 speed. I saw it there but no other info is known. I was at 3 junkyards

You have to to cut the chassis frame but there is a kit from Frontline so it is not that difficult. You also at present, need to cut a new hole for the gear stick but in fact can do a cut'n shut on t
