- The factory MGB GT V8 used an overdrive transmission and 3.07 rear gears. The overdrive was modified and the gearbox gears were stronger than stock. Even so gearbox problems were a common complaint.

- Save yourself some grief and use the T5 and a stronger driveshaft. Dave Q. (MGA coupe with 2.8 V6 and autoOD, formerly with T5)

- I think the overdrive was standard, it was the override switch on the gearbox that was altered, allowing o/d on 4th only on all except the very earliest cars. The gearbox had a modified casing, ratio
