Anyone installed 3 point retractable belts in a Bugeye? The Evil Moss Empire shows a kit for $153.95 each. Has anyone found a cheaper/better equivalent? How about mounting points? I know inertia reel

I had the same question for the same BugEye model. But for some reason, I refuse to pay real money for seat belts, and so I hit the junkyards instead. Orientation is vital for the inertia reel side,

I am also interested in installing 3 point belts in my MkIV. In my truck (78 Scout II) I've used practivally everything from a junkyard. I'd rather pay $2 a piece than $154 apiece for a seat belt. An

MOss sells a non innertial 3 point belt which was a snap to install in my Mk1 Midget. Goth them 'cause I have a real dish of a blonde haired blue eyed co- pilot with me, a wee bit younger than the ca

Hear, hear! The girl has good taste. I remember a ride I took in my bugeye with my 9-year-old niece. She was enjoying herself and I asked, "Would you like a car like this someday?" She answered, "No.

What does that mean 'non innertial'? I agree that $40 isn't a bad price. As for junkyard stuff, cars in a junkyard aren't necessarily old and deteriorated. I happen to be a regular at the junkyards n

Non-innertial belts are the type that don't roll up into a winding mechanisim when not in use, they just drop to the side. You have to adjust the size of them kinda like you would to adjust the strap

Does the Bugeye have attachment point of the wheel well for the shoulder belt? On my '67, I first installed the $40 static (non inertia-reel) belts sold by Moss (someone recently said that JCW sells

I had the same retractables on my '80 Spitfire, but if I recall correctly there is a doubler (ie a slab of metal) with a thru-hole in it on the inner part of the wheel well re-inforce the sheet metal

The bolts, washers and nut are important. Right size and best quality. But also important in a car that was not built for seat belts (your and my Bug Eye) would be to put a backing plate of thick met

You have a good thought about curvature, which I overlooked; adds stiffness to the structure. Also, I suppose a curved doubler (backing plate) does not have to precisely match the wheel arch's conto

Inertial seat belts are those with the spring loaded retractor that lock in an impact, the non inertail types are the older kind, just an adjustable belt that holds you in place. I do use a fair numb
