I met a fellow that insists that the last 150 Spitfires off the assembly line had 5-speed transmissions. Perhaps a TR7/8 5-speed unit? My feeling is that if this were so, we would all be doing that c

I seem to remember that there was a 5 speed Marina/Ital in the late 70's ( I had one) all be it with a 1.7ltr engine, I would not have thought that BL would have redesigned the bell housing for that

You meen with the MG Midget (posibly Spitfire are they the same) single rail 4 speed, being the same as a Marina/Ital Gear box, hence it the 5 speed convert is a streight swap for the Marina/Ital it
