Not just any US Robotics modem, the sportsters and winmodems are trash. The US Robotics Courier series is probably the best modem available, however they are expensive; $250+ for an external unit. An

Oh boy, talk about off topic! I'll probably catch hell from someone for replying, but it's something that probably affects a lot of you. I'm an ISP, so I deal with this question every day... Assuming

Thanks for the explanation. I think the culprit is my ISP. They must only operate at 28000. I have asked them twice what speed they operate and they never respond so I assume they think that it is a

I recently upgraded my modem from X2 to V90 56K and I'm consistently getting speeds of 52000, never less than 480000. Before I was getting sometimes 50000, but usually 45000 or lower. This is with AT

It could be your phone line. I know for a fact that my line will not support 56k. Go to (<A HREF="http://www.3com.com/56k/need4_56k/linetest.html">Line Test</A>) and check your line. Bob, 71mgb How i

Thanks Chip, For the in-depth reply from a provider's POV. I've been able to see the renegotiations/resends when doing downloads. Must be real busy tonight. Best initial speed has been 31.2K. Regardi
