- Howard, Check the block casting number. If it's 3733340 or 3837012 it's a 261 with a 3.75 bore. The head casting should be 3703570 or 3836850. Block casting 3836233 or 3837004 will be a 235 with a 3.

- If its a GMC look at the machined surface next to the distributor. The serial number will be there and will start with the engine size ie. 302XXXX or 270XXXX. Rich Fox --Original Message-- From: DOUG

- It definitely is. I have had some fun rides behind a 302. I am sure you will do the same. make sure you put the rear main bearing in the right way around. Most GMC guys have done it wrong at least on
