Lewis, Hard tops were indeed made for early Spits. However, I don't think the Mk1 was one of them. Most likely the top (I assume it is steel) came from a MK3. I've seen a number of them. Joe Curry '6

There is a photo of a 64 Spitfire in "The Triumph Spitfire" by Michael Cook. He states that the all steel removable hardtop was first offered on the 1964 year model. I hope this helps. Cheers, John G

I had both soft and hardtops on a '72 Midget I drove in high school. It depends on where the hardtop mounts. Obviously, the soft top would need to be down and the hardtop fastened over it. Can anyon

Hi Stuart, I wouldn't recommend it. But it might be possible. The structural rigidity and flexing might be a bit to much for the rear window seal though. One wouldn't want the rear window to pop out,
