I understand 'revving up' and 'torque' but still don't get 'revving up to "torque"'. I did wonder if 'loading up' meant the idle revs were dropping towards stall, but 'revving up' is the opposite in

If the problem is getting worse, it's likely not something mechanical. What kind of fuel pump are you running? If it is making more than 3 p.s.i. at the carb inlet, you may be suffering from a flood

May be running a bit rich. Have you tuned the carbs since the rebuild? Sometimes when they're leaking air through the bushes you wind up setting them rich to compensate. Carl French had this to say:

I always understood that "loading up" meant that the engine is getting to much fuel or wasn't burning cleanly at idle and would start stuttering. After running at idle you had to increase the RPM's,

Better check the butterfly spindles for any play @ all. When I finilyzed tuning the carbs the spindles were quite stuck - so a little oil helped a lot. Neglecting regular lubrication to the bearings
