Does anyone know the reason for the vacuum advance valves on the 74's that Stephen referred to? Are they emission related? and lastly would the car perform better without them? Pugs 756 The vacuum ad

According to my manual, the speed sensing override is emission related. I it on my '74 because the car performs better without it. The temperature sensing override, I think, helps the car run better
