...so far it's only running on starting fluid. I've tried to check for fuel - disconnected the fuel hose from the carb and cranked the engine: no fuel. Disconnected the inlet hose to the fuel pump: n

I would recommend that you get a small squirt bottle and use gas, I think ether alone is bad for your bores. I would go ahead and pull the tank and take care of the sending unit while your there. Not

Er, have you tried all those tests for fuel coming out with the gas cap off? If not, it could be the tank's not venting. Pull the fuel line off the tank and check for fuel running out there. Blow air
