Hi All Has anyone on the list actually installed the Datsun 5-Speed with a 948? In addition to it not working with the rear main oil seal kit, I cannot get the required clearance between the release

Would using the thick engine back plate from a later car work? The 948's have a thinner pressed steel plate, while the later cars have a cast iron plate. This would give you about 1/4" more clearance

I think Brian is talking about the engine plate, not the adapter plate that comes with the kit. I thought I had read somewhere that the 948 engine plate was thinner and had a ridge on it that needed

Easy for me to say, but how about dropping in a 1275 cc? You have probably invested as much in the 5 speed at this point as getting a used 1275. So, if you have to dump the tranny or the engine, per
