Rather than rely on the number on the block to deduce info on the head, check the casting number on the head itself. Ill scan the relevant page in the relevant book and attach it. expect it soon and

The 9C has one cam bearing (the front, next to the cam gear) and the 9CG has three cam bearings. Shawn

Check Vizard, the 9CG also had increased compression, and slightly larger valves. If anyones interested, I have (2) 12A185 heads, which I believe were standard on the 9C's Mark Haynes '62 HAN6 RMVR
