Sound a bit like warped front brake rotors. The condition will worsen as they heat up. Try a different set of rims and tires and see if the problem goes away. Chris in Arcata

Steve, had a similar problem with a TR-4. Found that the rim was out of round. This can be easily check by the tire shop. All they have to do is use a dial caliber while rotating the rim on a balanci
