Absolutely correct. Phosphoric acid is okay for mild steel pieces and sheet metal but it should not be used on high strength alloys or chrome plated steel because it causes hydrogen embrittlement (d

There is an equivalent to Navel Jelly that contains phosphoric acid. I think it's sold by the same company. Phosphoric acid certainly will etch aluminum but I'm not sure what's different about the s
