Hmm, when I did mine I did not have the problem. I went by the instructions in the Haynes for setting up after a rebuild. OK, I forgot to connect the main linkage spring ( I did not have one...) and

I have heard that pure copper an react with something in gasoline, so it is not such a good idea. Also, it is sort of weak. I had a copper line from the fuel pump to the carbs for a few years, but it
