I don't know that they need to be connected, although one assumes that MG thought so else would not have gone to the additional expense of the tube and the fittings on the filter cannisters. The OEM

73-on had curved 'snorkles' on both cannisters so the front one is picking up air from behind the rad with no ram effect, so both pick up air at much the same temp and velocity. Still have the connec
