- Adrian If it is a bad solenoid you might be able to get around the problem by giving it a couple of whacks with a hammer. A rubber mallet should be fine, but if that fails try the ball peen hammer. I

- If the solenoid is making a clicking sound, then it is probably okay, as that clicking sound is the metal piece moving back and forth (like it is supposed to) when a current is applied to the winding
