i placed an upgraded generic GM unit in my spit. bolted up right, and the only thig needed was to snip the wire ends and replace the connectors. i don't know the part number off hand, but i'm sure th

A standard GM alternator is a bolt in job. Took me all of about 15 minutes to convert over, and that included the time spent pondering which clock position I wanted the alternator connectors to be at

All together now.... GM #7027, mention the clock position if you care about how the wires are run. The Bosch one works fine too. The Gm is 63 amp output...good enough for big american iron, good eno

I might be interested in making a swap for my generator at some point, but is there any danger of frying the wiring harness with the added amperage? Also, is the shaft on the GM the same diameter as

since the wires come out of the side of the unit in the back, clock position refers to where the wire connectors are located with respect to the mounting 'wings'. as for the fan and pulley, the GM un

Does that mean that the Delco alternator pulley has a larger diameter? If so wouldn't that reduce the load on the engine allowing for more power to the driveshaft?

The Delco unit has the same pulley; same diameter, same location, same same same. You don't change anything, not even the belt. Like I said, it's about a 15 minute job, including the time you spend c
