tHROW OUT THE STICK GAUGES. They're notoriously inaccurate. AutoZone & Advance sell a dial gauge with about a 1' hose whip for about $15. They have different names on them, but all have an orange rub

I've had problems with every accu gage I've ever owned. They go off calibration, they are fragile and the one was very slow to bleed down. Stick with Longacre and be happy. Very precisely made gauges

Yes, I agree with him for the "average" driver/car. I think, though, that there may be some benefit for some of us in non-average situations. As for science, there are some interesting articles here:

Interesting, yes, but perhaps still just a wee bit biased. Does that "2 psi/month" apply to car tires inflated to 3 atmospheres, or only truck tires at 7.5 atm ? And they still fail to mention that
