Unless, you can do it yourself, or get it done on the cheap, I'd say this is a small improvement, and would not be worth a lot. Especially so, given the fact you want to retain an original build cam,

I think it is a great idea. The motor revs faster. Downside is that there will seem to be less lower in torque. My C/GT lost 12 pounds in the flywheel by dishing the front of the flywheel about 3/8's

While the engine is out, do EVERYTHING you can. It isn't difficult to tear it down, especially if the head is going to be done anyway. It just makes sense to freshen up the rings and bottom end: MGA
