I don't know about the going labor costs of balancing, but it is, from all I have read and heard, well worth doing. Next time I tear down my engine, I plan to do the balancing act myself. I understan

Yep, I've done it on everything I've built with good results. Engine runs very smooth. Cost here is a bit higher ($200+). The guy I use balances everything from the crank pulley to the clutch cover.
