I took the tops off the float chambers yesterday, in order to inspect and clean them. After removing the banjo connectors for the fuel inlet, I found that they had to be tighetened inordinately tight

Actually, Howard, they should be fiber washers. And yes, old ones get hard and need replacing. And, yes, new ones need re-tightening about three times after they've been fitted and become wet with fu
