I got the battery cover gasket that turned out to be just a length of round rubber "rope" not the exotic gasket shown in the Moss catalog. Does one stick it to the cover with silicone as positioning

All MGBs should have a rubber rope type seal on the battery cover, whether they are CB or RBB. It is a solid spongy rubber of about 1/4 d. and is bonded to the cover by a brushed on contact type ceme
