It seems I may have started something by asking which leg to put the switch in. There have been numerous responses saying to put it in one leg or the other, but I haven't seen anything explaining why

Seems Ken and Max Heim Ken and Jim Nazarian all pointed out my error. Radio presets in an all electronic new model will be lost with a cut-off switch on either side of the battery. Next problem. Bill

E-Gads. I guess I get to jump in. Low level thingummy bits just mentioned. Most Racing Switches have extra terminals, other than the big gnarly ones that are obvious. Racing organizations require a K

I disagree. I would want it on the hot side to cut off power. Part of spec for the placement of the switch in race cars is that it must be close to the battery. This, I beleive, is to cut off power t

Yes, this is convention but if you put in a switch at the battery you will cut off all power unless someone has wired that radio circuit directly to the battery. This is very unlikely. George

Any EE wil tell you that convention is to switch the hot not the ground or neutral. Yes, I know that Lucas has been guilty of switching ground in some cases but "that don't make it right". When disco

Hmmmm... by that logic, you would always disconnect the "hot" battery cable when working on your engine. Tried that once (wasn't thinking clearly), and my wrench touched the rim of the battery well w

Please disconnect the chassis side of the battery first. This is somewhere where hopefully you can learn from the mistakes of others. I once welded a perfectly good wrench to a Mini race car. This i
