Just did the same rebuild. Installed new crank bearings and torqued to spec. The crank turned easily in the bearings. Wouldn't spin like a bicycle crank, but turned easily. Didn't get stiff till I ad

go to your nearest automotive repair shop and find some plastigauge. it installs between the bearing shell and crank surface. when you torque the bearing to the recommended reading, it crushes. DO NO
